About this development/site: Powerminster Gleeson
Services was awarded a Government supported pathfinder contract to
provide energy services to 420 dwellings, also electricity to the
grid. Responsibility was taken by Powerminster Gleeson
Services for the design, build and operation of the scheme whilst
the finance was provided by our Parent Company M J Gleeson Group
Plc. The work comprised new tower block installations,
underground mains, heat exchangers, heat metering, remote boiler
house with CHP and 20 years operation and maintenance.
An Energy Services Company (MECo) was established as the delivery vehicle for the project.
What we do: Following the construction phase Powerminster Gleeson Service assume responsibility for the long term operation and maintenance of the project including
- Operation & Maintenance of the Boiler House
- Maintenance of Internal Heating & Hot Water Services in Homes
- Maintenance of Heat Exchangers and Rising Mains in individual high rise blocks
- Meter Reading
- Heat Charge Collection (through prepayment metering)
- 24/7 Repairs
Recognition: MECo won first place in the Focus on
energy use category of the Labour in Local Government Awards
2000. The Ex-Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, presented the
award. Mr Blair has previously stated "We want to see real
improvements in industrial and domestic energy efficiency; and
greater use of CHP."
MECo was also winner of the 2001 Community Heating Award from the
Combined Heat and Power Association.
