Residents of Stanhope play and party to celebrate Chrysalis Consortium's first successful year.
Stanhope Parish Rooms played host to an afternoon of entertainment on Friday 18 April. The event was held in celebration of a year of the Chrysalis led regeneration of the neighbourhood in Ashford, Kent. Moat, Gleeson Capital Solutions Limited, Gleeson Homes Southern, Powerminster Gleeson Services, Nationwide Commercial and Denne Construction all made generous contributions to the event.
Around 50 Stanhope residents enjoyed a good old fashioned tea party
with a 'birthday' cake in honour of the ongoing regeneration. The
young people also played a variety of traditional party games
including musical bumps, Simon Says and 'pass the parcel'.
Professor Reg E Mental was a big hit with younger residents,
keeping them entertained with his ventriloquism and conjuring act.
At the end of their magical afternoon, the young attendees left
with a goodie bag each, paid for by the sponsors of the event.
Lauren Russell of Lynsted Close at Stanhope says: "The last year has seen big improvements at Stanhope and this party is a well deserved celebration for those involved. I can't wait to see what the next year brings!"
The Stanhope estate is undergoing a £200 million regeneration and a
30-year PFI contract was signed on 17 April 2007 with Ashford
Borough Council.
Over the next five years, the massive regeneration project will see the refurbishment of 323 homes and the replacement of seven blocks of apartments with 442 new high quality homes. Seventy percent of these (309 homes) will be available for rent or shared ownership through Moat, while thirty per cent (133 homes) will be for sale on the open market through Gleeson Homes & Regeneration Southern.
